Tools and Origins
The tools listed are current as of
February 2006. All tools listed here have been found on the Internet, out in
the wild. This small collection of tools was created to help others in the
security community get a better understanding of where some tools (that people
use on a regular basis) originated. Some of the links may be broken. Our motive
is to expose you to tools of differing nature. The tools listed pertain to
offensive, defensive and audit tools. These tools will not
necessarily perform exploits, but they may help to identify exploits within a
system which will help system administrators tighten down their networks. All
tools listed are to be used for educational purposes, or to help network
administrators tighten down their network. This list was not created to have
others use the tools in a malicious manner.

Many of the sites listed have other
tools to offer the community which are not readily advertised. In the future, further
information will be listed about these sites as time permits our team of
researchers to discover.
Please be aware that Futures Inc. does
not endorse any of the tools listed. The list was created as an exercise within
our own company labs. The list will continue to grow over time. Please be
aware that some of the tools may have had malicious code added to them by their
creators or hackers to help with malicious activities on the web. We highly
recommend that all programs be scanned for viruses before attempting to use
them. Furthermore, we recommend that they are not used on a corporate or home
network without the network administrator being aware of such activities.
